Kim Swee becomes a ‘famous’ coach in Indonesia

JAKARTA: Malaysia coach Ong Kim Swee has found himself as a media celebrity following his team’s shock win over mighty South Korea.

Reporters from Vietnam and Indonesia were quick to seek Kim Swee for his views.

As Vietnam are expected to meet South Korea in the Asian Games semi-finals, their media asked Kim Swee on Tuesday for some tips on beating the Asian giants.

Kim Swee’s boys caused a huge upset when they upstaged South Korea, led by World Cup star and Tottenham Hotspur FC forward, Son Heung-min, 2-1 in a group match on Sunday.

On Wednesday night during a Malaysian team’s training session at Gelora Bung Karno, a group of Indonesian media were there to get Kim Swee’s thoughts on Indonesia’s match against United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the second round today.

Kim Swee duly answered their questions, and he was in a position to do so, with his team having beaten UAE 2-0 in an international friendly recently.
